RASC St. John's Centre Monthly Meeting
April 16, 2003

1. Randy's Introduction. Randy asked about people who would like to be changed from the email notice list to the snail mail notice or vice versa. Gary Case was on CBC Radio last Wednesday. Star-B-Que will be on the weekend of August 1-3. The Universe Centre group is now incorporated. Fred says there are good noises about funding. The next GA will be on June 27-30 in Vancouver.

Help wanted for our Centre's GA. There is planning occurring now, with more activity coming in the fall. Our GA is expected to be in the first week of July.

2. Observing.

3. Gary Case on What's Up this Month. Saturn and the Crab Nebula will be near each other. Likewise, Jupiter and the Beehive. Mercury on May 7. Lunar eclipse on 15 May. Lyrids 22 April. Eta Aquariids May 5. There are materials available from Garry Dymond on observing, eg. "Explore the Universe Observing Certificate".

4. Setting Up Telescopes. Various telescopes were on display, and several members gave a description of each, and how to set them up.
