The Newfoundland and Labrador Library Association
Invites you to Participate in
Library Week 2001 April 29 - May 5

"Let Libraries Carry You Away!" is the theme for Newfoundland and Labrador Library Week 2001. The theme and logo tie in with Newfoundland and Labrador's Marconi Celebrations: Receiving the World. Marconi's innovations in technology and communication remind us of the groundbreaking role libraries continue to provide in the community as centres where knowledge and information are both preserved and communicated in a variety of print and electronic formats. Libraries mean different things to each of us, but in all cases they can teach us, inform us and entertain us: they can carry us away on our own personal journeys of discovery.
Included in this web site you will find many ideas to help you plan your Library Week Events:

The Born to Read campaign will once again be featured in hospitals across the province. Check your local newspapers for coverage of the campaign which involves presenting a gift package to the first baby born in each hospital in the province during Library Week.

Please keep watching the Newfoundland and Labrador Library Association website for further developments.

We would like to thank the following for contributing to our Library Week celebrations:

Granny Bates Books
Breakwater Books
Creative Book Publishing
St. John's Public Libraries
Special Celebrations Corporation, Dept. of Tourism, Culture and Recreation
