Heart Health Information Offered to Walkers
The Canada Games Center and the Stephenville Dome have
up to 300 people walking in their buildings daily. During
Heart Month, Heart Health information was made available
in these walking venues by public health nurses, nursing
students and the Corner Brook Cardiac Support Group. Plenty
of healthy living information was available, along with
an interactive Health Promotion display developed by Christa
Arnold, a 4th year nursing student (pictured on the right
below).
Being Active Together
Since October 2001, a group from Woody Point has been gathering
at Bonne Bay Academy to enjoy being active together. Pamela
Roberts and Elizabeth Roberts, public health nurses, are
responsible for bringing this group of active people together.
A similar group in the Cow Head area is also enjoying walks
at their local school, thanks to their walk coordinators,
social worker Vanesssa Buckle and public health nurse Hughena
Brown. Great work all around!
Kick the Nic Programs
The Kick the Nic Youth Smoking Cessation Program continues
to be offered throughout the Western Region. Sessions have
been completed in Corner Brook, Stephenville, and St. Georges.
Way to go!
