The Newfoundland Historical Society and the Cupids Historical Society will co-host a symposium:

'FAIRE WOODES AND FRESHE RIVERS: Settling Cupids 1610-2010' on September 24-25 at St. John′s and Cupids.

 

Presentations will cover a range of topics: North Atlantic activities and living standard in the early 17th Century, European-Beothuk interactions in the early settlement period, historical geography and regional settlement patterns, the mythology of Shelia NaGeira, the 300th anniversary celebrations in 1910, and archaeological findings in recent years.

 

We′ll have our usual chartered bus service St. John′s-Cupids and a banquet at Cupids on Saturday, September 25. Further details will be available on the NHS website as they become available.
