St. John's InfoNET
Information Provider's Agreement
An InfoNET Information Provider is
a group or an organization that distributes information through the
St. John's InfoNET web service.
Each Information Provider will designate one person to be the authorized
Agent to maintain the information and web site for the group or
organization.
A signing authority for the group or organization will submit a completed
Information Provider's Agreement to the St. John's InfoNET Association.
The signing authority should be the director, the president, or a member
of the board of directors.
The St. John's InfoNET Association, hereafter referred to as
the Association, will provide web service under the following
conditions:
- The Information Provider will be given a directory on the InfoNET
server accessible on the web via a URL of:
http://www.sji.ca/DIRECTORY-NAME
where DIRECTORY-NAME is mutually agreed upon by
the Association and the Information Provider.
Disk space will be limited in consideration of available resources.
- The Agent must obtain a personal InfoNET user account by completing
the InfoNET User Agreement. The Association will make the directory
referenced in the previous clause accessible to the Agent for creation
and modification of the Information Provider's web pages.
- The Agent will take responsibility for the accuracy of any
information provided, including keeping it up to date.
- The Agent will examine the information he or she places on the
InfoNET, checking for any problems in content or appearance.
- Except for links to remote files, and for images or files obtained within
the public domain, the Information Provider will not add someone else's
information to the InfoNET web service without the express permission of the
owner of that information.
- The Information Provider and its Agent will adhere to applicable
copyright laws, licensing agreements and other legal restrictions on
reproducing information, to abide by all InfoNET "acceptable use"
policies, and to refrain from using the InfoNET for commercial
purposes.
- The Agent will clearly label information with the following:
(a) the Agent's name,
(b) an address, or a reference to a contact address, for the Agent, and
(c) the date that information was added or last modified.
- The Information Provider accepts that the Association and its members
will NOT be legally or financially liable for any disruption of service.
- The Information Provider will credit the services of the Association
by placing, on the web page addressed by the URL in clause 1, a web anchor
to the St. John's InfoNET web page, including (a) a clickable image of the
InfoNET's logo as appears on this page and (b) a
visible statement asserting that the page is hosted by the St. John's InfoNET
Association.
If an Information Provider does not meet the terms of this agreement,
the InfoNET Association may revoke its permission to distribute information
through the InfoNET.
If, for any reason, the Agent is unable to continue as a maintainer of
the information, the Agent or the Information Provider should notify the
InfoNET Association so that another can be found to continue the work.
