In August 1998, The Green Party of Canada held its Bi-Annual Convention in Winnipeg Manitoba. The Terra Nova Green Party submitted five nominations for the National Council. Among the candidates was Ms. K. MacDonald, The Terra Nova Green Party Leadership Candidate.

Ms. MacDonald is the first Newfoundland woman to run for the leadership of any federal political party. She received 15.7% of the eligable votes that were cast.
