Battle Harbour, Labrador. circa 1900.

Battle Harbour's Church of England chapel can be seen to the right of this photograph. This Church was designed by the Englishman Rev. Grey, who first visited the community in 1846. The Church was built in 1848. 

In the background can be seen icebergs, a common feature of the Labrador sea. In fact, this region of the North West Atlantic that has been referred to as "Iceberg Alley".

Battle Harbour, Labrador was a fishing station in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Battle Harbour was one of Labrador's major fishing centers,in the early twentieth century a Grenfell Mission was established in the community.

Battle Harbour Labrador has been referred to as "The Capital of Labrador".  Family names of Battle Harbour include: Rumbolt, Snook, Ancrman.
