As well as Green Party members, a Canadian Broadcasting Company camera crew and a reporter from VOCM radio were also in attendance.
The Agenda consisted of:
1) A Report from
the Chair.
2) Nominations for
the Provincial Election.
3) Other Business.
The Report from the Chair was an oral presentation followed by questions and answers.
At the nominations for the provincial
election:
1) Jason Crummey
accepted the nomination for the electoral district of St. John's South.
2) Hedley Pinsent
accepted the Nomination for the electoral district of St. John's West.
3) Jon Whalen accepted
the Nomination for the electoral district of Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi.
In Other Business:
1) The Green
Book was presented to the Assembly. The Green Book is the Terra
Nova Greens statement of policy for the 1999 Provincial election. It was
based upon the three provincial deficits: the fiscal
deficit, the social deficit and the environmental deficit.
2) P. Gale volunteered
to act as accountant for all three Green Candidates.
3) An election committee
was created for the 1999 campaign.
The meeting was adjourned.

Green Party members agreed to concentrate
on one issue in the election: overfishing on the Grand Banks and the Flemish
Cap. The slogan of the campaign was "BAN DRAGGERS".
On Thursday February 21, 1999 the "Schedule G" forms were submitted to the Chief Electoral Office. These Schedule G forms must be filed to show an intention to seek election to the House of Assembly.
On February 25, 1999 Hedley Pinsent
withdrew his name as a candidate. He was supported by all Terra Nova Green
Party members in his decision.

The election was held on February 9,
1999. Jon Whalen, Signal Hill-Quidi Vidi, received 42 votes. Jason Crummey,
St. John's South, received 101 votes.
