Club

The EECC exists to promote safe and enjoyable rock and ice climbing on the Avalon Pennisula and in Newfoundland in general.
The club acts as an information source and discussion forum for local and visiting climbers.
The EECC locates and develops new climbing areas on the Avalon, addressing access issues and emphasizing respect for the environment. Clean climbing (i.e. no trace of visitation by humans) is promoted as much as possible. The club will assist in overseeing where bolted areas would best suit all members and climbers in general.
Safety is an underlying principle in all the clubs activities. This is in part promoted through group outings, occassional beginners' sessions, and by making relevant literature available to members.

Membership costs $20 a year and entitles you to our newsletter, participation in club events such as group outings and climbing gym rentals, and access to our climbing literature and local climbing guide. Members will be kept informed of new areas and upcoming events, and access and other topical issues. Members vote on many aspects of club functions, and gain a voice in local issues relevant to climbing.

To help plan your outings, here's weather and tide information. (For some of these climbs it is wise to cautious about the waves.)
WallNuts climbing gym offers an indoor climbing environment in St. John's.
