The Royal St. John's Regatta Hall of Fame - 1995

Patrick Ring

Pat Ring's involvement with the Royal St. John's Regatta lasted 25 years, from 1947 to 1972. All of his involvement was as a coxswain.

His record include 35 victories, with one being the Championship Race of 1961 with the William Summers Jr. crew.

It is estimated his second places, third places and fourth places would be, in general, of numbers equal to his victories.

In 1947 and in 1948, Pat Ring was coxswain for one race and placed second in both. He recalls that in one year he steered 12 crews that placed second.

During his long and successful association with the Royal St. John's Regatta, Pat Ring produced some of the finest crews and oarspeople to enter this event.

For 25 years, Pat Ring was a credit to the crews he coxswained, the tradition that is associated with Quidi Vidi Village and the Regatta and especially to the Regatta and himself.
