WELCOME! Amnesty
International would like to welcome you to its first human rights film
festival in St.John's, Newfoundland and Labrador. The festival
features a number of films from around the world. All of the films are
related to human rights and how they affect our lives. The event
is a two-day film marathon organized by the local Amnesty International
Group 60. It is both an awareness-raising event, as well as a fundraiser
for the St.John's group. The event is taking place on the 15th
and 16th of March,2004 at the Engineering Building at Memorial
University, room EN 2006 (click to see map), so schedule this
time in your planner as "busy" and come see some films that
will help you broaden your view of the world. This year's
festival promises to be two days of awareness on the issues that are faced
by people around the world. Some of the films feature issues on refugees
in Canada and abroad, trafficking of women, ethnic conflicts, child soldiers,
free trade, consequences of war, etc. All proceeds
from the festival ticket sales will go to the Amnesty International Group
60 Fund. So, get a bag of popcorn and a pen. Learn more and help others ! Come see a film at the first human rights film festival in St.John's and make a difference! A.I. Group 60 Film Festival Coordinating Committee |
