RECOGNIZING the need to build the Green Party and to enhance the effectiveness of the Global Green Movement, the Terra Nova Greens extend heartfelt congratulations to Kathy MacDonald for accepting the nomination for leader of the Green Party of Canada.In August, 1998, in the Green Party of Canada Bi-Annual convention, held at Winnipeg, Manitoba, Ms. MacDonald received 15.7% of the eligable votes that were cast.
Ms. MacDonald is the first Newfoundland woman to run for the leadership of a federal political party. Ms. MacDonald is only the third Newfoundlander to run for the leadership of any federal party. The Terra Nova Greens hope that she serves as an example to future candidates, across Canada.
