The Choir of the Anglican Cathedral sings regularly at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. services on Sundays from September to June. Ranging in age from 15 to 78, the Choir successfully brings together all generations at the Cathedral in harmony. The Choir has an extensive repertoire of over 100 pieces, which is constantly growing, and consists of music from the past 300 years and more. This site has been set up to provide those interested with some information about the Cathedral Choir; the music regularly used in worship; some of the programmes run by the choir; and special musical events being planned.

Join the ChoirThere is a place for you in the Cathedral Choir! The Cathedral Choir is always looking for new members! If you can read music and are interested in singing in the Cathedral Choir, then you are most welcome to come down and see what it is like. We accept members of any church or denomination who are interested in sharing in our musical worship. The Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., in the Choir room - use the southwest entrance in the parking lot. The Choir sings at the 11:00 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. services each Sunday, from September until June. The committment is great, but the rewards are greater! |
Choral ScholarshipsFor nearly twenty years, the Cathedral Choir has had a Choral Scholarship programme which has supported dozens of students in their musical studies. This programme not only encourages young people to join the choir, but also gives them an active role in church life. Scholarships are currently set at $400 per semester (September to December, and January to April), and $200 from May to our Patronal Festival in June. University undergraduate students are eligible for these scholarships, and high school students are eligible for scholarships at half this rate. Scholars are expected to attend weekly rehearsals on Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., and Sunday services at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. (some extra services are expected for major feast days). If you are interested in joining the choir as a Choral Scholar, please contact the choirmaster.
This very important programme would not exist without the constant support of many generous parishioners. We are very grateful for this support and would like to thank all those who have donated to this programme through the years. If you are interested in donating to the Choral Scholarship fund or would like to donate a Choral Scholarship, you may simply make a donation to the Anglican Cathedral, clearly marking it for the Choral Scholarship Fund. Please contact the Choirmaster, if you would like to discuss this possibility. |
