Multi-day put-in. The new highway passes near the Gradient 4 m/k

headwaters of the Pinware River. It may look like low

gradient, but it is a good high volume river and probably 21 fpm

makes an excellent multi-day. Section: Day Trip

Day trip put-in. To get to the Pinware River, go to 56 fpm

southern Labrador via the ferry from St. Barbe on the

Northern Peninsula to Blanc Sablon in Quebec. Upon

arrival, head east for about 1 hour and you will reach the

community of Pinware in Labrador. You will follow the

gorge until the river reaches the road at a definite steady

(if you go farther you leave the river for good as it heads

inland). Put in here by crashing through the alders on the

side of the road to the river.

Take-out Northing Easting:

The take-out is the same for both runs and is just

upstream from the Pinware Campground. The highway

runs really close to this section. An alternative take-out is

at the bridge for RD. #510. The climb up out of the gorge

is quite demanding, but won’t require ropes or anything.

This take-out shaves four kilometers off the run.
